My First Sweater

I finally finished knitting a sweater for Harper.

It's not perfect and I had a lot of difficulties with it.
Please disregard the liquor bottles in the back.  Ahem.

But you know what?  I'm damn proud of myself.
I made her wear it two days in a row :)

So proud, in fact, that I'm making her another one.

First Birthday

The celebration of Harper's birthday included:
- Hanging out with Momma (always a good time!)
- Lunch with Grammie
- Wearing owl panties (iron-on from Joann's)
- Making dinner for our family
- Making vanilla cake and cupcakes and decorating them with a little help from KidsCakes
(the icing is buttercream and we used blueberries to color it purple. Picture color  looks more grey than it actually was)
- Eating said cupcakes
- Receiving a momma made quilt

Hopefully tomorrow there will be some videos uploaded!

Addicting

My new yarn swift hasn't arrived yet, but I got a little antsy yesterday.  One of the things I bought was this yummy, buttery colored yarn
and as fate would have it, this book was waiting by the front door for me when I got home.  Serious fate, I tell you.  Not only that, but Harper wanted to nap right then.  So what did I do instead of washing a pile of dishes or folding laundry?  I started working on a project.  Of course.  Once I started, I couldn't stop!  When Wade came home I handed Harper off to him and retreated to the bedroom for an hour and a half (thank you love!).  I brought it to my parents and to bed.  I felt like a kid at Christmas.  I woke up at 6:30 this morning and starting working on it.  Then only reason I have stopped so far this morning is to write this post.  I have a million things to do, but all I crave is to sit on this couch with my girl and knit.  At least that's what I'm doing this morning
Don't mind what I'm wearing.  I'm still in my sleeping clothes!
Happy Friday to you all and have a spectacular weekend!

Corners from my home

Corners of my home was something Soulemama used to do on her blog.  It's been ages since she has, but I always loved it.  I love seeing a sneak peak into the homes of others, to see where and how they live and decorate.  To see the love, time, and energy in their homes.  So, I thought about sharing some corners from my home and Fridays are generally a low-key day so what better way to end the week?

So this is a corner (literally!) from Harper's room.  This is where we read stories and where I rock her to sleep 99% of the time.

This is a close up of her shelf.  We love bunnies! The drawing on the left in the blue frame is a Christmas present I got her from Tollipop.  The girl in the picture's name is Harper!

This is a close up of her bookcase.  This was built for Wade by his grandfather.  Love!

This is our yard sale rocker.  My mom and I recovered the cushions.  It's a squeaky rocker, but I love it!

What about you?  Anyone else have a corner from their home that they'd like to share?

Momma-Made Pants

Yes, indeed.  I successfully (sort of) made some baby pants!  Something I've wanted to do for a long time and finally got courage enough to tackle them!  They're not perfect by any means (nothing is ever perfect the first time you try, right??), but they fit and they're adorable.  And easy!  I got the instructions here.  I love the feeling of making something by hand for someone I love!

And yes, that is a thermometer Harper is playing with.  We've been dealing with fevers and sore throats around here.  For the moment we're better so I'm hoping it's passed!

Now back to more sewing!
