Donald is one of those people. He can talk to anyone about anything and in ten minutes they're BFFs, it's ridiculous. I joke with him that he's defective. People who were socially pathetic probably survived better in, say, cave-days, right? I mean, they didn't go around talking to strangers who might spear them in the back AND because they didn't want the hassle of meeting new people they were extra-loyal to the ones they knew, which helped in mammoth hunting.

On the topic of social situations: I'm awful too. I've been meeting with the same group of women once a week for almost two years now and the other day one of them asked me if I take awhile to warm up to people. I said, yeah, I guess, the more relaxed I am the better. And she said, yeah, she thought so, because after two years she finally feels like I'm normal, whereas at first she thought I was socially inept. And here I thought I'd been accepted as normal like two months after I started hanging out with them.

It was every bit as humiliating as it sounds.

No, but seriously, people who are socially awesome with strangers really amaze me.

no wait it has happened...I take that back! last summer for my birthday, I had lunch and a pedi with my BFF. that was it! the ONE and ONLY and time!! my son is 17 months now.

maybe for my birthday this year I'll get to go to an actual movie :D LoL...
